Episode 13 - A Day in the Life
In todays episode, Lauren talks about what a day in the life of a pet sitter looks like. It involves a lot of poop, getting those steps in and tons of cuddles and purrs.
Show Notes:
So what does a day in the life of a pet sitter look like?
Well I will tell you it is a lot more than playing with cats and giving belly rubs for dogs, there is a lot of poop involved and it is all about the shoes!
First off, pet sitters are up early!
We need to be up early to begin our pet sitting rounds.
Then back to the office for morning work.
During this time, we return phone calls, emails and texts, we confirm the schedules for ourselves or our sitters are set for the day and keep up with general accounting/marketing and social media.
It was all about the shoes and it is!
As pet sitters, we do a lot of walking and by a lot I mean a lot, we get our steps in every day!
Mid-day walks. Most pet sitters offer mid-day walks for their clients who work during the day or may be gone for an extended period of time.
We stop to see Spot and go for a walk, refresh the water and have a bit of cuddles, then it's off to fluffy and so on.
These pets we see daily, we really get to develop a relationship with and that is one of the best bonuses of this job.
During the afternoon we begin our round for all other pets in our care.
Although not all animals require as much play, there is still cleaning cages, refreshing water, and preparing each pet’s meal per owner’s instructions.
After visiting daily dogs, cats and caged animals, we go back to those pups whose owners are out of town and require multiple visits per day.
Most dogs will require a minimum of 3 visits, while cats and most other animals may only need one.
