SERVING ELMHURST, VILLA PARK, LOMBARD + NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS

Your Most Common Dog Walking Questions, Answered

After years of providing dog walks throughout Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard, Lisle, Downers Grove, and Naperville, I've learned that pet parents share many of the same questions and concerns. And honestly? That makes complete sense. When you're entrusting someone with your furry family member and access to your home, you deserve clear answers and complete peace of mind.

At The Pet Lady, our mission is simple yet profound: to provide peace of mind to pet parents by caring for their pets as if they were our own. That commitment shapes everything we do, from our scheduling policies to how we enter your home. Let me walk you through the most common questions we receive about our dog walking services.

Understanding Our Dog Walking Schedule

One of the first questions new clients ask is: "When can you walk my dog?"

We offer dog walks seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. because we know your dog's needs don't take weekends off. During the workweek, our mid-day visits are scheduled between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., which tends to be the sweet spot for most dogs who need a bathroom break and some exercise while their humans are at work.

Now, life doesn't always fit into neat boxes. Maybe you work an early morning shift, or perhaps you need an evening walk on a Saturday. We've got you covered. Weekend walks are available for an additional $10. This small fee helps us fairly compensate our team members who adjust their schedules to meet your needs, reflecting our core value of reliability.

Our Cancellation Policy: Built on Mutual Respect

Let's talk about cancellations, because this is where caring for pets intersects with caring for people.

For dog walks, we ask that you cancel by 6 p.m. the day before your scheduled service to avoid charges. I know this might seem strict at first glance, but here's why it matters: Our dog walkers are real people with real lives who plan their days, their routes, and yes, their income around your scheduled visits.

When we set a standard of excellence in our leadership, we model that standard to our staff. This policy isn't about being inflexible; it's about respecting our team members' time and supporting their livelihoods. They're the ones out there in the Chicago winter cold, the summer heat, and everything in between, giving your dog the attention and care they deserve.

We know plans change. Sometimes emergencies happen or your schedule shifts unexpectedly. When you give us advance notice, we can adjust without leaving our team in a difficult position. It's one of those small ways we live out our values of patience and professionalismwhile maintaining the reliable service you've come to trust.

How We Access Your Home: Security Meets Convenience

This is often the question that comes with the most anxiety, and I completely understand why. You're not just letting someone walk your dog; you're giving them access to your home, your safe space, your sanctuary.

We primarily use lockboxes to access homes. You can provide your own lockbox, or we can supply one for a one-time fee of $25. We also work with garage codes or pin-pad door codes if that's what you prefer. The method matters less than the principle: we want you to feel secure in your choice.

Every member of our team understands that this job is more than "just walking dogs." We're being trusted with our clients' most precious assets - their pets and their homes. That trust is sacred to us. Our walkers are trained, vetted, and selected not just for their love of animals, but for their integrity and professionalism.

You'll often hear from our clients that our team members go above and beyond, bringing in packages from the porch, sending sweet photos and updates, sometimes even staying a few extra minutes because your pup was having such a good time. These aren't exceptions; they're who we are.

The Dog Walking Difference: More Than Just a Service

Here's what I've learned after all these years in dog walking: the logistics matter, but they're not what truly sets a service apart. What matters is the peace of mind you feel when you're at work, on vacation, or simply running errands.

When we say we care for your dog as if they were our own, that's not marketing speak, it's a promise backed by action. It means we're patient with the senior dog who takes a little longer to get moving. It means we're attentive to the anxious pup who needs extra reassurance. It means we notice when something seems off and we communicate that to you promptly.

Our approach is steady, calm, and deeply reliable. We're not rushing through visits to squeeze in more clients. We're focused on giving each dog the individual attention they deserve, whether that's a leisurely sniff session around the neighborhood or an energetic romp that leaves them happily tired.

Questions We Haven't Covered?

I could write for hours about dog walking - the behavioral patterns we observe, the relationships we build with our four-legged clients, the joy we get from special moments like a puppy's first successful walk. But I know you might have questions specific to your situation.

Please don't hesitate to reach out. We believe issues and problems can be solved with genuine conversation, kindness, and humility. Whether you're curious about how we handle reactive dogs, want to know more about our team, or just need reassurance about a specific concern, we're happy to help.

At The Pet Lady, we're not just providing dog walks, we're providing peace of mind. And that peace of mind starts with clear, honest communication about exactly how we operate and why we make the choices we do.

Ready to experience the difference that comes from working with a team that truly cares? Let's schedule a meet-and-greet and see if we're the right fit for your family. After all, you and your dog deserve nothing less than reliable, caring, patient, and professional service.
